Gambling Harm Lived Experience Experts (GHLEE) formed with one clear goal: reduce and ultimately end gambling harm. We have the solutions as we are the ones who have the lived experience of the pain and suffering inflicted by the gambling industry in pursuit of their obscene profits. They don't care about us, our families and friends, or our communities. WE DO!

GHLEE is a group of passionate individuals who have experienced the devastating effects of gambling harm. We believe that change is possible, and we are committed to making a difference. Our mission is to raise awareness about the dangers of gambling and to provide support for those who have been affected by it. GHLEE operates on the unceded, sovereign lands of the First Peoples of the land now known as Australia. We acknowledge their generosity in sharing their land with us. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Their hurt and that of their peoples endured since colonisation has been unfathomable.

Gambling harm is just another way Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been affected by colonisation. Some studies suggest gambling harm rates of between 10 to 20 times higher among the Indigenous population. Much like tobacco and alcohol’s health impacts, this disproportionate harm is inexorably linked to intergenerational trauma, poverty, unemployment, and factors such as the easy accessibility of gambling venues in certain communities.
